FAQs

Do you take insurance?

JHS Therapy is not in-network with insurance providers, but we’re happy to provide a superbill you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement.

We’ve chosen this approach so care is guided by what’s best for clients, not by insurance rules. Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis for reimbursement, which becomes part of your permanent medical record. In today’s political climate, where protections for marginalized communities are increasingly uncertain, we believe it’s essential for clients to access care without worrying about how a diagnosis might affect their privacy, employment, legal matters, or future coverage.

What are your fees?

Each of our therapists designs their own fee schedule, which you can find on their bio pages. We also offer sliding scale fees. This is a self-determined system in collaboration with your therapist, where together you agree on a rate that feels manageable for you. Payments are set up in our secure client portal and can be made by credit/debit card or HSA/FSA card.

What goes into your fees?

Our rates allow us to keep our caseloads manageable so you receive our best energy and presence. Your fee covers not only the session time but also the work we put in behind the scenes, such as ongoing professional development training, reading/listening/researching, gathering resources, vetting referrals for complementary services, clinical consultation/supervision and the overhead costs of running a small business.

Jessica, as owner, has also structured our therapist compensation model to prioritize the personal and professional well-being of our team. The portion retained by the organization is minimal. This reflects our values and commitment to the field of Social Work and to creating work spaces that are accessible and supportive of neurodivergent professionals.

Do you offer in-person and online sessions?

Yes. We offer both in-person sessions at our North Loop West office in Houston, TX and secure telehealth sessions for clients who prefer to meet virtually. You can choose what feels most comfortable and switch if your needs change. We are prohibited by our licensure to provide therapy services outside of Texas.

Where is your physical office?

Location information and directions can be found here.

What ages do you work with?

We primarily work with teens and adults ages 16 and up. Jessica will see children 8+ on a case by case basis. Parent involvement including parenting support is a required part of treatment planning for all children and most teens.
